LITIGATION ALERT: Know When to Hold'em: Issuing a Litigation Hold in Anticipation of Litigation

You've met with the CIO and your IT people.  You've identified the different types of electronic and paper information that your company creates and maintains.  You've implemented and are in compliance with a document retention policy for electronic and paper information that makes sense for your company and is consistent with its storage capabilities.  You understand that there are circumstances when the document retention policy should be suspended and information preserved because of litigation or administrative proceedings.  But will you know when to issue a litigation hold?
