Christina Hightower represents clients in complex commercial litigation and arbitration, as well as project-development matters. With nearly a decade of experience, she handles high-stakes disputes involving misrepresentation, fraudulent inducement, DTPA, fiduciary duty claims, and other sophisticated business and commercial controversies, while also advising on the contractual and strategic issues that shape large capital projects.
Christina's combination of litigation and front-end project experience gives clients a practical, business-focused perspective on risk, contract strategy, and dispute resolution. She has secured significant results for clients, including a favorable settlement with a state Attorney General on behalf of a hotel responding to DTPA allegations and an arbitration award of hundreds of millions of dollars in a dispute involving financial misrepresentations and improper withholding in the context of a major project.
In addition to her disputes practice, Christina advises clients on complex transactions and development matters for large-scale energy and infrastructure projects. She previously served as commercial counsel for a publicly traded developer on a multibillion-dollar liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline and terminal project. In that role, she partnered with commercial and executive leadership, coordinated cross-functional teams, and negotiated major project agreements directly with counterparties. She now advises clients on EPC and procurement strategy, risk allocation, contract structure, and project execution.
Her experience-driven business perspective makes her particularly effective in negotiating complex terms and conditions for procurement arrangements for major equipment and services, and she has negotiated billions of dollars in contracts supporting EPC and offtake requirements. She understands the importance of working closely with commercial and operations teams to structuring enforceable agreements that appropriately allocate risk while advancing project objectives in an efficient manner. She also advises on environmental liabilities and regulatory considerations arising from project development and operations, and assists clients in developing internal compliance protocols and operational policies that support disciplined execution.
Christina also serves as corporate secretary and trusted advisor to boards and senior leadership, advising on governance, compliance, fiduciary obligations, and strategic risk management.
Away from the Office
Christina spends time with her husband and two young children. She also devotes time to pro bono work, including representing asylum seekers and clients protecting their freedom of expression in public schools.
