Kane Russell Coleman Logan Names Trip Nix Chair of the Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Creditors’ Rights Practice Section

Kane Russell Coleman Logan (KRCL) has announced that Trip Nix will succeed John Kane as chair of the Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Creditors’ Rights practice group. Kane will continue his bankruptcy practice in the Dallas office.

“It has been a privilege to help shape and grow this practice alongside such talented attorneys,” Kane said. “Trip is well-positioned to lead the group forward. His judgment, energy, and command of complex bankruptcy matters will serve our clients and team exceptionally well as the practice continues to grow.”

Joe Coleman, KRCL founder and former chair of the Bankruptcy group, also reflected on the significance of the leadership transition.

“John has played a key role in shaping this practice and strengthening its reputation through steady leadership and exceptional client service,” said Coleman. “We’re grateful for the foundation he has built, and confident Trip will build on that legacy as he steps into this role. This kind of thoughtful transition in leadership continues the firm’s succession plan we embarked upon over ten years ago.”

Nix is a director in KRCL’s Austin office, focusing on bankruptcy and commercial litigation. He advises clients from diverse industries in complex bankruptcy proceedings and related disputes, offering strategic legal counsel.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank John and Joe for their leadership and dedication in building and growing the firm’s outstanding bankruptcy practice,” said Nix. “I look forward to helping lead this team and continuing to deliver the highest level of service to our clients.”

Nix has represented numerous stakeholders in bankruptcy proceedings, including secured lenders, debtors in possession, Chapter 11 trustees, asset purchasers, equity holders, unsecured creditors, and official committees. His bankruptcy litigation experience includes matters involving substantive consolidation, discharge and exemption disputes, fraudulent transfer and preference actions, automatic stay relief, claim objections, contested trustee appointments, motions to terminate exclusivity and contested plan confirmations. He has also handled appeals of bankruptcy court judgments and orders throughout Texas.

In addition to his bankruptcy work, Nix maintains an active commercial litigation practice in both federal district and state courts. He regularly represents court-appointed receivers and litigates trust disputes, fiduciary and fraud claims, real estate and contract disputes, and receivership matters.
